Amasa Maleski

Amasa Maleski is a poet, musician, and filmmaker who attended high school in Arlington County. They served as Arlington’s Youth Poet Laureate in 2021, and was a member of the 2020 DC Youth Slam Team. Their poetry was recognized at the regional level of the 2021 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, and they are an alumna of the University of Virginia’s Young Writers’ Workshop. In 2019, they qualified at the countywide level for the Optimist International Oratorical contest. Amasa first fell in love with spoken word at their middle school’s poetry open mic; three years later, they have been invited back to this school, and others across the county, as a guest speaker on poetry.
