Kashvi Ramani

2022 Arlington County, VA Youth Poet Laureate

Kashvi Ramani is a sophomore in high school, pursuing a Film Studies and Entrepreneurship dual enrollment program at two separate schools. Her roots in writing began at six years old but specifically branched as a poet closely before being elected to the 2020-2021 DC Youth Slam Poetry Team. Most recently, she was selected as the 2022 Arlington County Youth Poet Laureate, being one of two of the first Indian-American YPLs in the area. Her pieces have been published in Brown Girl Magazine and Rattle, as well as been recognized by Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, Young Poets in the Community, Collaborative Solutions for Communities, Poetry Society of Virginia, and more. She was a 2022 YoungArts National Finalist in Spoken Theatre and National Merit award winner in Spoken Word Poetry as well! She hopes to offer a unique perspective with her work as a young female Indian-American and make a difference in her own small way.
